Aṣá Ọ̀rọ̀

Aṣá Ọ̀rọ̀ is a mobile word game built to make learning Yoruba feel like play, not homework. Across Africa, many younger people understand their ancestral language but struggle to speak, read, or use it confidently. I designed the full experience in Figma, then rebuilt it in Flutter for iOS and Android from a single codebase: interactive puzzles, progressive levels, daily challenges, score tracking, hearts, and offline-ready gameplay wrapped in warm, culturally rooted visuals.

Indigenous languages are fading not from lack of interest, but from lack of daily practice. Most language tools feel like textbooks. African languages are also underrepresented in educational apps. The product needed to feel modern and fun for today’s generation while honoring Yoruba heritage through typography, color, and visual storytelling, then ship as a polished cross-platform app without separate iOS and Android builds.

5. 05Optimized layouts and interactions for younger players with large touch targets and clear navigation
6. 06Iterated from static designs to a fully interactive app with consistent UI across devices
